In celebration of the Collections 30th anniversary Jerwood Collection is releasing a new logo for 2023!
In 1993, Alan Grieve (Chairman emeritus, Jerwood) purchased the first work for the Collection, a painting by Sir Frank Brangwyn RA, From my Window at Ditchling. The view in the painting is from Brangwyn’s home in Ditchling, Sussex, ‘The Jointure’: the legal term ‘jointure’ refers to lands given to a wife as part of a settlement. The house in the painting was part of the divorce settlement between Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves. This quiet contemplative work inspired the colours and design of Jerwood Collection’s logo.
From my Window at Ditchling is on exhibition in Sussex Landscapes: Chalk, Wood and Water at Pallant House Gallery until 23 April 2023.
