Jerwood Collection is pleased to present Echoes (8 November 2025 – 25 January 2026), an exhibition at Arnolfini curated by Art In Motion (AIM), Arnolfini’s Creatives in Residence. Fifteen works from Jerwood Collection are going on loan for this project, featuring artists Wilfred Avery, Frank Auerbach, Edward Bawden, Gerald Brockhurst RA, Robert Colquhoun, Eileen Cooper RA, Tracey Emin DBE RA, Lubaina Himid CBE RA, HaYoung Kim, Laurence Stephen Lowry RA, Alexander Mackenzie, Alan Reynolds, John Robertson, George Truefitt, and Alfred Wolmark.
AIM artists have selected these works based on their personal and shared connections to them. In doing so, they have explored what it is about an artwork that continues to resonate – how it can echo the ways we see, feel and engage with the world. From tranquil landscapes and colourful abstractions to expressive portraits, these works carry fragments of real and imagined stories that have inspired new interpretations.
Like an echo which repeats and reverberates, the exhibition also includes ten new works by AIM artists created in response to the Jerwood Collection loans. Displayed on Arnolfini’s Level 2, these pieces bring fresh perspectives to themes that connect artists across different times, places and media.
Echoes marks the final year of a three-year collaboration between Arnolfini and Jerwood Collection, supported by Jerwood Foundation, exploring the idea of art for enjoyment.
With thanks to AIM artists Molly Bates, Helen Beer, Emily Boden, Maisie Fortune, Colin Higginson, Jonathan Barr Lindsay, Beth Richards, Betty Sargent, Peter James Sutton, and Katy Tovey.
