Jerwood Foundation awards grant to London Philharmonic Orchestra

Jerwood Foundation has awarded a grant of £60,000 over three years to London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Young Composers Programme. This partnership will allow the continuation of this exemplar orchestral development programme, renowned for its exceptional high quality, focussed training and individual mentoring to support 15 early career composers as they seek to build successful careers in the industry.

This new funding relationship with London Philharmonic Orchestra underlines Jerwood Foundation’s ongoing commitment to excellence and emerging talent in the arts in the UK and the three-year grant of £60,000 will support 15 early career composers at a critical moment in building their careers.

Showcasing diversity and new compositional voices is an important ambition for the Orchestra and Jerwood Foundation’s commitment to our programme will not only enable us to nurture 15 early career composers but will also offer a platform for new talent and enrich the contemporary orchestral repertoire for future generations to enjoy.

The 2024/25 season which begins in September 2024 marks the 18th year of this industry - leading LPO Young Composers Programme, which has previously unlocked the career potential of 79 emerging composers who have participated since it was established in 2006.
