In December 2021 with the help of ArtFund, Jerwood Collection donated Fan by Halima Cassell to The Hepworth Wakefield. The collection consists of significant works by modern British artists including Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, as well as contemporary artists such as Helen Marten and Cerith Wyn Evans.
Halima Cassell (b. 1975) was born in Kashmir, Pakistan, grew up in Lancashire and now lives in Shropshire. Fusing her Asian roots with a fascination for African pattern work and her deep passion for architectural geometry, Halima’s work is intense yet playful, structured yet creative; substantial yet dynamic and invariably compelling in its originality.
Halima Cassell's Fan is now on display at The Hepworth Wakefield in A Living Collection until January 2023. This exhibition showcases a number of important acquisitions made over the last two years, which are on display at the gallery for the very first time.
