Jerwood Foundation Supports IMPERMANENCE Presents…Powered by JERWOOD

Jerwood Foundation has awarded IMPERMANENCE a £30,000 grant to support a third year of IMPERMANENCE Presents… Powered by Jerwood. This programme will give eight choreographers the opportunity to present their work at The Mount Without, a former city-centre church in Bristol that has been transformed into a unique 200-seat theatre for dance.

Alongside performance opportunities, participating artists will benefit from a tailored programme of creative support designed to strengthen and develop their practice, foster connections with fellow artists, and expand audience reach. At a time when touring opportunities for dance artists, choreographers and companies have significantly reduced, IMPERMANENCE Presents… Powered by Jerwood provides much-needed space for artists to test and refine new work, engage directly with audiences, and sustain ambitious creative practice. In turn, audiences will have the opportunity to experience some of the most innovative, exciting and thought-provoking contemporary dance being created today.

This grant completes a third year of Jerwood Foundation support for IMPERMANENCE Presents… Powered by Jerwood. This programme will provide eight cutting-edge choreographers with opportunities to present their work at The Mount Without in Bristol and receive vital creative and professional development support, and underlies Jerwood’s ongoing commitment to supporting excellence in the UK arts.

Roseanna Anderson & Josh Ben-Tovim, Artistic Directors of IMPERMANENCE said:

Support from Jerwood Foundation has been completely instrumental in enabling us to build - from the ground up - what is now one of the biggest programmes of independent dance outside of London. We receive no other regular funding, and in a time of extreme challenges across the sector, we simply wouldn’t have got out of the starting blocks without Jerwood Foundation behind us. We are immensely grateful and extend thanks from all of the audiences and artists who have benefitted from this grant.

IMPERMANENCE is a Dance Theatre company making work for the stage, whilst also presenting a regular programme of visiting companies at The Mount Without.
