Works from Jerwood Collection on loan to The Sun and the Moon at Saatchi Gallery

The Sun and the Moon: Art Inspired by the Celestial, presented at Saatchi Gallery, London, from 5 June – 8 September 2026, is a major exhibition exploring how the sun and moon have shaped artistic imagination across cultures and throughout history.

Spanning two floors and nine gallery spaces, the exhibition brings together artworks, installations and objects that examine the enduring influence of these celestial bodies, from early belief systems to contemporary artistic practice.

On loan from the Jerwood Collection are seven works by four artists:

  • Sun and Water can Live Together, 2023 and Humbled by your Sun Rays, 2023 by Yinka Ilori (b. 1987)

  • Winter Fields, 2002 by Alexander Mackenzie (1923-2002)

  • Interior: Morning, 1971; Interior: Noon, 1971; Interior: Evening and Interior: Night, 1971 by Patrick Caulfield (1936-2005)

These works contribute to the exhibition’s exploration of light, time and atmosphere, reflecting the ways artists have responded to the cycles of day and night and the symbolic power of the sun and moon.
