Jerwood Collection Works by Halima Cassell MBE to Feature in Break the Mould at Ikon Gallery

Jerwood Collection loans three key works by Halima Cassell MBE (b. 1975) to Break the Mould, the final chapter in a trilogy of exhibitions exploring craft, materiality and contemporary artistic practice at Ikon Gallery. Supported by Jerwood Foundation, this major exhibition positions clay at the centre of creative experimentation.

Kirigami (2004), Shiraz (2004) and Concentric Flower (2003) by Halima Cassell are being loaned from the Jerwood Collection to this landmark presentation. Cassell’s practice is characterised by an extraordinary fluency with clay and a deep engagement with surface, form and material structure, placing her work at the intersection of craft, sculpture and contemporary art.

Break the Mould opens at Ikon Gallery on 25 March 2026, running through 6 September 2026. Across its duration, visitors are invited to engage with both finished works and unfolding creative practices, exploring how clay and ceramics continue to shape contemporary artistic discourse.
