Jerwood Collection works feature in Black Waters: Inference To The Veil at The Glasgow School of Art

Jerwood Collection is pleased to support Black Waters: Inference To The Veil, presented at the Reid Gallery, The Glasgow School of Art, from 14 March – 25 April 2026.

Developed as part of the inaugural Jerwood Curatorial Fellowship, the exhibition explores ‘inference’ as both a methodology and a critical strategy, foregrounding Black feminist approaches to archives, visibility and institutional memory.

Two key works from the Jerwood Collection form the conceptual foundation of the exhibition: Vanishing Point 13 (Veronese) (2020) by Barbara Walker MBE, RA and A Rake’s Progress: Hole in Her Stocking (4) (2022) by Lubaina Himid CBE, RA. These works anchor the exhibition’s exploration of perspective, obscurity and visual authority.

They are joined by Dream and Refuge (2020) by Michael Armitage and Mayflower, All Flowers (2020) by Yinka Shonibare CBE, RA, presented in dialogue with works from the GSA Archives & Collections.

Jerwood Foundation is proud to support this curatorial project and to share works from Jerwood Collection.  ‘Black Waters’, the inaugural recipients of the Jerwood Curatorial Fellowship are a collaborative, curatorial research project led by Zoë Zo, Zoë Tumika & Zoë Guthrie and Żżo Charlery.'
