FVU New Takes

Film and Video Umbrella (FVU), who commission, produce and curate artists’ moving image works, and presents them in collaboration with galleries and cultural partners throughout the UK and internationally, was supported by Jerwood Foundation to develop a new commissioning initiative FVU New Takes.

 

This programme has provided creative support for six UK based visual artists to test new ideas and thinking in moving image and to each realise a new moving image work.

 

The featured artists-Mahdy Abo Bahat, Anna Engelhardt, Hantao Li, Morisha Moodley, Jameisha Prescod and Lucy Rose Shaftain-Fenner offer bold and inventive approaches to storytelling and form within their work, addressing a plethora of contemporary themes.

 

Each new moving-image commission will be presented in a month-long solo exhibition programme in Arnolfini Dark Studio from 28 February to 4 October 2026. Ahead of the presentations at Arnolfini, each of the six works will be made available for free on FVU Watch – with Giants’ Anatomy by Hantao Li featuring from the 28 January 2026 and opening at Arnolfini from 28 February to 31 March 2026.
