Dundee Contemporary Arts announce Jerwood funded residency artists

The second pair of early career artists to receive a fully funded residency based in the DCA print studio has been announced:

Miriam Hancill is a visual artist and doctoral researcher working in the fields of printmaking and sculptural installation. Her practice teases out the generative potentials of print matter through material-led inquiry, aiming to find new ways of working with the traditional materials, tools, machinery, and processes of the field. Textiles play an important role in her work – their malleability serving to open up possibilities for working beyond technical print boundaries.

Thulani Rachia is an artist, director and educator. His creative practice integrates the fields of architecture, design, performing and visual arts. Informed by his upbringing in Johannesburg South Africa, his work contemplates socio-spatial relations constructed by history and the built environment.

The artists were selected for their openness to experimentation and desire to push beyond traditional technical printmaking boundaries. Both evidenced a strong track record of early-career professional development and commitment to their practice, as well as the potential impact this opportunity offers for their career trajectory.

Miriam and Thulani began work in the studio in June and will complete their residencies this December.
