ThickSkin Theatre announce first Jerwood Associate Artist

Earlier this year Jerwood Foundation announced a total grant of £40,000 over two years to support ThickSkin Theatre’s Jerwood Associate Artist Placement programme. 

Anna Berentzen has been announced as ThickSkin’s first Jerwood Associate Artist. Her directing credits include:Leave No Trace (Buxton Opera House in Association with Buxton Civic Association), A Very Odd Birthday Party ( Hawkseed Theatre UK Tour), Astronauts, The Survivors’ Guide to Living, All I Want for Christmas (Royal Exchange Theatre).   

Anna is Co-Founder of Hawkseed Theatre. She was part of the Royal Exchange Theatre Young Directors’ Programme and was later selected to be part of Headlong Origins scheme for regional directors. 

The first production Anna worked on was a new show, Pigeon, which ThickSkin were commissioned to create by the Royal Exchange Theatre for their Local Exchange Festival. Pigeon was directed by ThickSkin’s co-founder and Artistic Director, Neil Bettles, who was supported by Anna.
