Jerwood Fellowship for Emerging Writers at New Writing North

Jerwood Foundation is supporting Jerwood Fellowship for Emerging Writers at New Writing North through its award of a total grant of £44,000.  New Writing North has been producing nationally significant work and developing talented new, emerging and early career writers since 1996.

Jerwood Fellowship for Emerging Writers at New Writing North will provide three talented emerging writers living in the North of England a bursary and bespoke mentoring and support from New Writing North to allow them to create their most significant piece of work to date, be that poetry or prose.  The three selected writers will end the year- long development scheme with a completed first draft and clear pathway.

There will also be three public showcases or panel events held across the North and shared online, bringing together participants from Jerwood Fellowship for Emerging Writers at New Writing North and other leading writers to further develop literature audiences across the North.

I am delighted that this grant of £44,000 will launch Jerwood Fellowship for Emerging Writers at New Writing North and will offer three talented writers based in the North of England a valuable opportunity at a pivotal point in their career. The bursary, support and  bespoke mentoring from leading writers in their field, form and genre will enable these writers to develop their next work of artistic significance and aid their career progression.
