Impressions: Selected Works from Jerwood Collection

Edinburgh Printmakers presents Impressions: Selected Works from Jerwood Collection (4 April - 29 June 2025) an exhibition featuring 20 exceptional prints by internationally renowned artists.

This selection from Jerwood Collection highlights the possibilities of printmaking, showcasing diverse techniques such as etching, linocut, lithography, monotype and screen printing. The exhibition celebrates the medium’s rich potential, from the striking abstractions of Bridget Riley, Eva Rothschild RA, and John Hoyland RA to the expressive, figurative works of Tracey Emin DBE RA, Maggi Hambling, and Frank Auerbach. Bold compositions and vibrant works by Yinka Shonibare CBE, RA and Hurvin Anderson RA further demonstrates how printmaking can serve as a powerful visual commentary for addressing themes of identity, culture, and history.

Running alongside this, is the partner exhibition Story: Selected works from Edinburgh Printmakers Collection which celebrates the transformative impact printmaking has had on British artists and their work.

Coinciding with these exhibitions will be the first Jerwood Residencies at Edinburgh Printmakers, a two-year initiative supporting six early-career printmakers. The residency provides artists with access to studio facilities, research visits, and learning workshops, focusing on etching and intaglio techniques to develop high-level printmaking careers. A copy of their folio of works will enter Jerwood Collection and will be shared publicly as part of our long-term strategy.

Impressions: Selected Works from Jerwood Collection is supported by Jerwood Foundation, with works on loan from Jerwood Collection.
