IMPERMANENCE Presents... Powered by Jerwood

Jerwood Foundation has awarded IMPERMANENCE a total grant of £40,000 over two years, to launch IMPERMANENCE Presents… Powered by Jerwood; a programme presenting the work of sixteen cutting-edge choreographers at the company's new artist-led dance house, The Mount Without, in Bristol.

Each year, eight choreographers will present their work over multiple nights. Alongside promotion through IMPERMANENCES’s channels and an introduction to audiences in Bristol, choreographers will be offered a package of creative support which will include opportunities to connect with other artists and share more about their process and influences with audiences; be that through workshops, organising lectures with guest speakers or film screenings, to help inform and establish new networks and raise their profile.

Roseanna Anderson IMPERMANENCE Co-Artistic Director said:

As an artist led company, we know that performing a show for more than one night allows the cast to find more space within the work and better understand how the work relates to an audience, exponentially increasing its quality. Offering a minimum of 3 nights has been central to the design of this programme. Technical rehearsals in a theatre can also be elusive so we've built in time for Choreographers and Directors to work on their show in our theatre before presenting it.

On 17 February IMPERMANENCE announced five of the inaugural choreographers whose work will be featured in a series of electrifying shows during the Spring and Summer of 2025.  These include Solène Weinachter, Aakash Odedra, Cree Barnett-Williams, Oona Doherty and Marikiscrycrycry. The remaining choreographers will be announced later in the year, where their work will be platformed in the Autumn // Winter Season.  IMPERMANENCE Directors Roseanna Anderson and Josh Ben-Tovim, both accomplished choreographers and dancers, have selected these artists based upon their diverse range of choreographic voices and innovative approaches.

Josh Ben-Tovim, IMPERMANENCE Co-Artistic Directors said:
