Jerwood Foundation has continued to support the work of Brixton Chamber Orchestra by awarding them a grant of £25,000. This support helps enable their Christmas and summer tours of housing estates in Lambeth. The funds will go toward the fees for young professional musicians.

The group seeks to inspire local people of all backgrounds to engage more deeply with the arts and each other, across demographic divides.
Lara Wardle, Executive Director and Trustee, Jerwood Foundation said
Having previously supported Brixton Chamber Orchestra, I am delighted that Jerwood Foundation will be renewing its support with an additional grant of £25,000, which will enable the orchestra to provide crucial performance and training opportunities for musicians from Brixton, as well as access to live orchestral performance for local and national audiences.
Matthew O'Keeffe, Director of Brixton Chamber Orchestra, said
We’re so grateful that Jerwood has decided to grant us another year of support for our 2024/25 season estates tours.
This award will directly fund over 20 orchestral performances on estates, as well as school performances and workshops, ensuring that access to live music is available to all. It also supports our incredible team of young professional musicians, allowing us to pay better fees in reward for their exceptional talent and dedication.
We hope and expect that our impact will continue to grow this year as we share the joy of thrilling live orchestral experiences.
