In 2001 the Foundation made a grant of £200,000 towards Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Dance Injuries Centre, part of the refurbishment, rebuilding and extension of the Birmingham Hippodrome. The Jerwood Centre for the Prevention and Treatment of Dance Injuries, the first of its kind in the UK was opened on 29 April 2002 by HRH The Prince of Wales.

In 2018, in recognition of the long-standing relationship between Jerwood and Birmingham Royal Ballet, the Foundation made a donation of £20,000 towards the cost of replacing ultrasound equipment at the Jerwood Centre, reinforcing its position as the leading organization in the field of dance medicine.

This past fortnight, I got back on stage dancing with Birmingham Royal Ballet after the fourth surgery of my career.  Huge credit is due to the company's Jerwood Centre team who worked hard to prepare me before surgery and have worked with me every day since to help me get back ahead of schedule.  The work never finishes, but now we can switch our focus to keeping me on stage and performing to my maximum.
