In October Jerwood Charitable Foundation launched the Jerwood Visual Arts Artist Bursaries, 10 awards for individual artists to support the development of their practice. This month they launch another open fund, the Performing Arts Micro Bursaries with legacy funds from The BBC Performing Arts Fund. These awards of between £250 and £1,000 are to support independent artists and producers and are now open for application. They will be awarded over two rounds.
Both funds have been created to provide individuals with direct support for their professional and creative development, without the expectation of specific product outputs and/or public engagement. More details on how to apply at:
On National Poetry Day, Jerwood Charitable Foundation also announced Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowships. Using accrued interest from a bequest given to Arts Council England by Mr Joseph Compton in 1964, together with funds from Jerwood Charitable Foundation and the Arts Council, the Fellowships will offer a significant new development opportunity for poets to the value of £220,000. The programme will run biennially for three editions (2017- 2022) supporting a total of nine Fellowships. Aiming to support excellence in poetic practice in the broadest artistic and cultural sense, over 250 nominators have been approached to suggest individuals who will be invited to apply directly early in 2017.
