Jerwood Foundation awards a two-year grant to Paintings in Hospitals

Jerwood Foundation has awarded a two-year grant of £20,000 to Paintings in Hospitals. This support will enable them to conserve, restore and digitise a portion of their extensive art collection so that the works can be enjoyed by the public again.

By being able to restore the popular and well-loved artworks to museum quality condition, Paintings in Hospitals can increase the number of artworks offered for loan across the UK and enable them to digitise part of the collection to share online with a wider audience.

Paintings in Hospitals aims to transform the UK’s wellbeing by using world-class art to inspire better health for patients, carers, and communities. Using their collection, they provide artwork loans and activities for the benefit of the public who visit, work, or live in all types of healthcare, community and social care spaces.

Their collection consists of over 3,500 artworks including drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs, textiles and digital works. World-class artists are represented, including Yinka Shonibare, Helen Chadwick, Gillian Ayres, Catherine Yass, Ben Nicholson and many more.
